Role Overview

Medicilon is seeking a Business Development Manager to grow our client base and business opportunities in the U.S. market. This position will focus on developing new pharmaceutical and biotechnology clients, building long-term relationships, and working closely with our scientific teams to translate client needs into proposals and research programs.

The ideal candidate has experience in CRO business development, scientific services sales, or a client-facing role within the pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry. A strong understanding of drug discovery or preclinical development is important, but we are open to candidates who have developed their scientific knowledge through industry experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify and develop new business opportunities with pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies.
• Build and maintain a strong pipeline of prospective clients and opportunities.
• Develop long-term client relationships and expand business with existing accounts.
• Understand client research needs and coordinate with Medicilon's scientific teams to develop appropriate solutions and proposals.
• Manage opportunities through the sales cycle, including initial outreach, scientific discussions, proposals, follow-up, negotiation, and closing.
• Support RFPs, quotations, CDAs/NDAs, MSAs, and other commercial documentation.
• Represent Medicilon at industry conferences, trade shows, client meetings, and networking events.
• Maintain accurate records of client activity, pipeline development, forecasts, and sales progress.
• Monitor market trends and provide feedback on client needs, competitors, and emerging business opportunities.
• Partner closely with scientific, project management, and business teams in the U.S. and China to support successful client engagements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in life sciences, biotechnology, pharmaceutical sciences, or a related field preferred.
• 2+ years of business development, sales, account management, or other relevant client-facing experience within the CRO, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or life sciences industry.
• Experience selling CRO, drug discovery, preclinical, laboratory, or scientific services is strongly preferred.
• Understanding of the drug discovery and preclinical development process.
• Demonstrated ability to develop client relationships and progress business opportunities through the sales cycle.
• Existing pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry relationships are a plus, but not required.
• Strong communication, presentation, organization, and follow-up skills.
• Comfortable working independently in a global, fast-paced organization.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with scientific teams across the U.S. and China.
• Willingness to travel for client meetings and industry events.
